Cat Woywod challenges habitual ways of perception through intermedia art. Site-specific interventions, performing arts, and electroacoustic sound art are woven together using minimal technical means to create complex experiences of space and time. Born in post-reunification Germany as the descendant of artisans, she grew up in Silicon Valley, USA; among the lignite mines of the Lower Rhine; in the limestone, slate, and metal industries of the Bergisches Land; and on the farmlands of the Upper Bavarian Pre-Alps. Cat Woywod has lived and worked in Kassel since 2016.
For RANGE 2026, Cat presents “KRAK,” a multisensory radio composition and publication that challenges quantifying notions of perception, the body, and environments.
“KRAK” was created as part of Cat’s master’s thesis in “Sound Art/Composition” at the Mainz University of Music in 2026.
